The global science communication project, FameLab, returns to Ireland!

Held annually in over 30 countries, the British Council and Cheltenham Science Festival have teamed up again to bring the world's largest science communication competition to Ireland. The regional heats are over, and now the finalists will go head-to-head to compete for the FameLab Ireland title.

The newest voices from the world of science in Ireland will deliver short 3-minute pieces on bizarre and pertinent science concepts – expect to hear anything from why newborn babies cry to if being a couch potato is in our DNA.  The night promises to be an unpredictable, enlightening and exciting snapshot into the world of science, engineering, maths and technology. Presentations will then be judged by a panel of experts according to FameLab’s golden rule – the 3 Cs: Content, Clarity and Charisma. As an audience member not only will you witness the best in Irish science communication, but you will also be given the power to vote for your favourite contestants.

The winner of the FameLab Ireland final will get the chance to represent their country at the International FameLab Final at the Cheltenham Science Festival in June 2016. There are also fantastic prizes up for grabs, with the National Winner receiving €1000 and the top three national finalists winning an all-expenses paid trip to a UK Science Festival.

Entertainment will be provided by science presenter, comedian and geek songstress, the ‘Voice of an Angle’ Helen Arney.

Entry is FREE but tickets are limited so early booking is advised - https://dublin.sciencegallery.com/events/2016/03/famelabirelandnationalfinal20160
