18:30 to 20:30

FameLab is back! Held annually in over 30 countries, the University of Limerick and the British Council have teamed up once more to bring FameLab to the region.

Armed only with their wits and a few props, the top newest voices from the world of science, technology, engineering and maths will deliver three-minute talks on weird and wonderful science concepts. Expect to hear anything from the effects of caffeine on the body to why we should protect parasites, from the curable qualities of CRISPR to the cosmic lighthouses known as pulsars.

Presentations will then be judged according to FameLab’s golden rules – the three Cs: Content, Clarity and Charisma. As an audience member you too can be involved in the judging process and have the power to rate the contestants along with our esteemed panel of judges.

The top two from the FameLab Limerick competition will go on to represent the region at the FameLab Ireland national final in April 2019.

So, encourage your curiosity and get a snapshot into the world of science, engineering, maths and technology at this entertaining and exciting event!

FameLab Ireland is funded by the Science Foundation Ireland and is supported by Cpl Resources Plc and Henkel Ireland Limited. It is managed by the British Council Ireland in collaboration with a host of top-class partners from higher education, research, media and public engagement across Ireland.

FameLab Limerick is delivered in partnership with the University of Limerick: Faculty of Science and Engineering, Bernal Institute and the Postgraduate Association, and SFI Research Centres: Lero, MACSI and SSPC.
