The British Council was established within Ireland in 1990.  Since then we have partnered with a wide range of organisations and individuals from the Arts, Education, Science and Society across Ireland and internationally.

BBC World Questions

One example is BBC World Questions, a series of debates held in capitals across the world in a time of change. The Dublin event, staged in partnership with the BBC and Dublin City Council in November 2016,  invited members of the public to question a panel of politicians and thinkers on the big issues affecting Ireland and post-Brexit Europe; including Leo Varadkar, Minister for Social Protection and Teachta Dála for Dublin West, Mary Lou McDonald, Deputy Leader of Sinn Féin and Teachta Dála for Dublin Central, Conor Lenihan, Former Fianna Fail minister of state and currently businessman with strong links to Russia and Eastern Europe and Dr JoAnne Mancini, Senior Lecturer in History at Maynooth University
