In January 2023, we supported UK-based The Otolith Group artists Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun to specially curated a series of talks and discussions, featuring contributions by an international mix of dynamic guests. The series was chaired by The Otolith Group contributors including Denise da Silva, Federico Campagna, Susan Schuplli, Bahar Noorizadeh, Erick Beltrán and Boris Ondreička.
Conceived as part of the Department of Xenogenesis (DXG) at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), The Otolith Group presented a day of rich discussion and reflections with invited international artists, writers, and thinkers. Audiences and guests were invited to come together to think about complicated notions of time, as it relates to critiques of identity, race, politics, capitalism and technologies.
About the Event
The DXG programme was an in-person event, and was complemented by several remote online contributions and launches. This included a live-stream keynote address on Friday 27 Jan 2023 at 6pm by Denise Ferreira Da Silva chaired by The Otolith Group.
The in-person event took place on Saturday 28 Jan 2023 from 11am-5:15pm in the Lecture Room at IMMA.
The event also marked the final weeks of the exhibition The Otolith Group: Xenogenesis that concluded at IMMA on 12 February 2023, following the major touring exhibition curated by Annie Fletcher, Director of IMMA. Find out more here.
