In February 2023, Academically Speaking (formally known as Scientifically Speaking) is offering a series of FREE introductory and advanced communications training to researchers. These bespoke trainings will take place consecutively between the 20 and 24 February 2023 and will enhance researchers' ability to communicate their work and other topics that matter to them with more impact and effect.
WORKSHOP BREAKDOWN
Introductory workshop 1 asks the question 'why tell stories?' It focuses on how stories work and how that teaches us to make compelling content. It also looks at developing our ‘body language’ and using it effectively.
Introductory workshop 2 deals with giving interviews to the media and facilitating skills. These have immediate value but also turn out to enhance our communication skills in general. We also introduce and explore the extraordinary power of improvisation.
The advanced workshop looks in more depth at topics covered in the introductory workshops and is an opportunity to explore individual issues.
There will be a total of five half day workshops held in-person alongside our partners Trinity College Dublin, Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, and ADAPT Centre. Each workshop will be delivered by leading UK communications expert and skills coach, Malcolm Love, alongside FameLab Ireland alumni.
