We are thrilled to support the screening of Marko Milanovic’s Film Temptation of Influence as part of the Architecture at the Edge Festival programme at the Irish Film Institute on 9 October 2025.
Temptation of Influence is a filmic essay and a collage exploring how architectural ideas are passed down, reinterpreted and inevitably misread across generations. It begins in the Dublin study of architect Shane de Blacam, where Palladio’s Four Books line the walls beside sketches by Shane’s teacher and friend Louis Kahn. From this intimate setting, the film journeys across Ireland, the Veneto and the East Coast of the United States, tracing the fragile mechanics of architectural inheritance through buildings, landscapes and conversations.
Contributors include Kenneth Frampton, Níall McLaughlin, Sheila O’Donnell, Mary Laheen, Peter Carroll and others, reframing how influence moves through memory, encounter and place.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with director Marko Milovanovic in conversation with Peter Carroll, Director at A2 Architects and Head of Architecture at SAUL.
Produced by Architecture at the Edge (AATE), the film premiered in Ireland on 11 July 2025 as part of the Galway Film Fleadh Festival and was presented in association with AATE and the British Council.
Showing as part of the IFI Irish Focus monthly strand showcasing new Irish film.
Kerry McCall Magan, British Council Ireland Country Director, commented:
‘We are delighted to enable further amplification and dissemination of Temptation of Influence to new audiences, in a different geographical location, supporting the participation of UK architect Marko Milanovic with further peer networks and communities of practice in Ireland.’
Frank Mohan, Director of Architecture at the Edge, said:
‘Architecture at the Edge is grateful to the British Council Ireland, who enable us to run our annual festival and support the showcasing of emerging UK designers at the festival.’
