We are delighted that this year's Cheltenham Science Festival will still be going ahead as a virtual festival to be streamed for free 2-7 June via Cheltenham Festivals YouTube channel.
This year’s festival will be called Cheltenham Science Festival @ Home as the team invite you to join them on your smartphone, smart TV or laptop for six days of science events. The Festival will mix live online events, pre-recorded events with live Q + As with speakers, participatory workshops and other novel online formats. The daily programme will start at 10am and run through until 8pm. The full programme and speaker line-upcan be viewed below.
The Festival is fronted by the world’s first A.I. Festival Curator AIDA. Since her first appearance at the Cheltenham Science Festival in 2019, she has gone on to win awards for her unique approach to curation. Like A.I. AIDA is constantly evolving so virtual interaction with her is important for her development. She will be appearing throughout the Festival as your guide to what’s on.
On 3 June the festival will also be broadcasting the FameLab UK Final. Join some of the best science communicators in the country as they go head to head in this battle of mind and word. The contestants will entertain you with fascinating subjects and mind-blowing research in bite-size, three-minute talks! Judged on content, clarity and charisma, expect a science showdown of unseen magnitude. The judges are TV presenter Dallas Campbell, cyber-security expert Jessica Barker and Cheltenham Science Festival’s Head of Programming Marieke Navin. For more information see their programme page below.
