Future/Fashion: ElectroThreads - An evening of technology, fashion and design with the new generation of Irish fashion designers exploring cutting edge technology.
A fusion of technology, design and fashion, Future/Fashion: ElectroThreads will be a showcase of Irish Design as the festival's Future/Fashion Designers in Residence unveil their work at a runway showcase. Working with engineers and designers from Canada (MakeFashion), Ireland and the UK, the 2017 designers in residence were tasked with the theme of Illuminations, from Darkness to Light.
The residency's UK mentor was Kristina Dimitrova who set up Interlaced (http://interlaced.co/), an organisation created to inspire, educate and communicate the developments around the next wave of fashion, creating a platform for curious minds.
The Future/Fashion Design Residency was the inaugural open call of the festival's Curiosity Studio, a year round design and research residency programme. The first of a series of calls which seeks to support Irish designers and artists who are curious to explore cutting edge technology, science and design in their creative practice. The Future/Fashion Design Award 2017 will be announced on the night with a prize of €2,500.
Through its work in Fashion and Design, the British Council creates links between designers and cultural institutions globally through a diverse range of projects. We're delighted to support Electrothreads this year and look forward to further collaborations with the Curiosity Studio in the future.
