This year, we were delighted to collaborate once again with the Creative Futures Academy (CFA) to deliver an AI Media Literacy Workshop designed to help young creatives navigate today’s complex digital landscape. ThinkYoung hosted this year’s programme at the NationalCollege of Art and Design (NCAD), working with fine arts students to explore the intersection of creativity, technology and critical digital skills.
The workshop series was delivered in two stages. During the first stage, held in November 2025, students worked in teams to design a digital solution, such as an app, game, tool or campaign.
The workshop focused on:
- Online data use – understanding how data is collected, shared and used across digital platforms
- Algorithmic influence – exploring how algorithms shape the information people encounter
- Social media business models – examining how platform revenue structures affect user behaviour and wellbeing
- Critical and creative thinking – developing thoughtful, imaginative responses to digital challenges
- Team-based solution design – creating practical apps, games, campaigns or tools that promote media literacy
- Collaboration and problem-solving – strengthening communication and teamwork in a creative context
In recognition of their achievement in the November workshop, the winning team took part in a study trip to Belfast in March 2026, where they competed against the winners from parallel workshops in France, Scotland, Romania, Cyprus and Greece.
The March visit also included in-depth learning sessions on AI and media literacy, delivered by educators from Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University. Participants benefited from a broader range of teaching perspectives, resources and expert insights.
