Students from the 2025 AI Media Literacy Workshop collaborate to brainstorm and develop project ideas, exploring the impact of AI, social media and digital technologies

British Council Ireland is delighted to partner with Creative Futures Academy (CFA) to deliver a two-day AI Media Literacy Workshop at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) from 11-12 November. This is a full-day workshop running from 9:30am to approximately 5:00pm, with scheduled breaks throughout the day.

As part of the 2026 BETA Festival programme, this workshop invites participants to critically explore how AI, algorithms and digital platforms shape the ways we access information, form opinions and understand the world around us. Aligning with the festival’s theme of examining technology’s influence on perception and knowledge, the workshop equips young adults with the tools to navigate and question the digital systems that increasingly mediate everyday life.

Facilitated by ThinkYoung, participants will take part in interactive workshops and team-based challenges exploring both the opportunities and risks presented by AI and digital media.

Key focus of workshop include:

  • Understanding how data is collected, shared, and used online.
  • Exploring how algorithms shape the information we see and engage with.
  • Examining the business models of social media companies and their impact on user.
  • Developing critical thinking and creative responses to digital challenges.
  • Working in teams to design practical solutions (apps, games, campaigns, or tools) that promote stronger media literacy.
  • Building communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills in a creative context.

As part of British Council Ireland’s wider Youth Connect programme, the AI Media Literacy Workshop supports young people to build the skills, confidence and connections needed to navigate an increasingly digital world. Youth Connect is the British Council’s global youth leadership programme, helping young people develop the knowledge and networks to engage with challenges such as digital transformation, climate change and inequality, while creating positive impact in their communities.

Places are limited, so early registration is encouraged. Sign up here.
