On 6–7 November 2025, we were delighted to work alongside the Creative Futures Academy (CFA) and ThinkYoung to present a two-day media workshop for young adults at the National College of Arts and Design (NCAD).
This is the second time that British Council Ireland has partnered with the CFA to deliver training that helps young creatives navigate the digital landscape.
As part of the wider EU Region Media Literacy Training initiative, participants worked in teams to design a digital solution such as an app, game, tool or campaign that promotes stronger media literacy. The most compelling idea from each event was awarded a study trip to the UK in March 2026.
The key focus of the workshop included:
- understanding how data is collected, shared and used online
- exploring how algorithms shape the information we see and engage with
- examining the business models of social media companies and their impact on users
- developing critical thinking and creative responses to digital challenges
- working in teams to design practical solutions (apps, games, campaigns or tools) that promote stronger media literacy
- building communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills in a creative context.
As part of their achievement in our Media Literacy workshop, the group winners will take part in a study trip to Belfast in March 2026, where they will compete against winners from similar workshops delivered by ThinkYoung.
This visit will also offer in-depth learning sessions on AI and media literacy, led by experienced educators, and will give participants access to a wider range of teaching perspectives and resources.
